Back to Camaro SS

-- still a bit UNDER CONSTRUCTION --

GM RPO Codes  Mostly 2002 Specific

There are a handful of GM RPO codes that can help determine specifics about a particular vehicle's configuration as it left GM/Chevrolet.   This is my attempt to clarify which RPO's to look for when identifying a 2002 Camaro SLP SS.

CAE    -    Handling charge for delivering vehicle to SLP's LaSalle facility for convenience

PBT    -    Temp hood, wheels and tires for upfitter delivery  1998 - 2002 Camaro SS

STE    -    Ste. Therese plant

WU8    -    Super Sport package - 325 hp for 2002 Camaro SS

Y2Y    -    2000 and newer, second sticker content with extra cost SLP options

Z28    -    Z28 Package - 310hp for 2001 and 2002 Camaro

2002 Camaro SS and SLP build Info

-  WU8 RPO code vehicle left Ste Therese as Z28 badged Camaros.

-  WU8 added Camaro SS options for 2002 were the SS hood, SS rear spoiler, 10 spoke wheels and SS badges.   Extra cost SLP options varied by year but for 2002, here is what appears to be a   good list:

-  Y2Y RPO indicates cars with SLP installed options beyond the WU8 SS option package and had the SLP door stickers that detailed those 'extra add on options'

-  2002 SLP options listing:  SLP Engineering Options for 2002 Camaro SS   (Courtesy of the WayBack Machine)  -

-  SLP offered two exhaust options:   Dual-Dual pushed the HP rating to 335.   Center-Mount pushed the HP rating to 345 with the caveat that it was a 'performance package' and included a 'Black WIng' cold air intake.

-  Post back in 2007 from Dave Hamburger, one of the two principles of SLP.    Daves states that EVERY Camaro SS from 1996 - 2002 regardless of content came through SLP.

A very special thank you to to Brangeta for his massively informative 4th Generation Camaro History.   His RPO breakdowns are quite detailed.

Brangeta also has a 4th Gen History Facebook page.
