Parts used in T56 Conversion

The parts I used came from various sources:

Rebuild - Update January 2010   ( not yet a complete set of notes by a long shot.... )

In November of 2009, I started a complete drivetrain rebuild of my '96 Impala SS..

Motor:

Professionally built '95 Corvette LT1 by J2 Race Engines, John Bray and his crew, out in Chesapeake, VA.    0.030 over with aluminum 12:1's, Crower rods, CompCam 501, head work, block work etc all by John's shop.   John has been building Chevy Gen1 small blocks for over 40 years.   Now builds these and 1200 hp Chevy BIG blocks for truck pullin'...

T56:

Six Speed Tremec -016 that was installed in 2006 was pulled.  It had gotten a bit noisy from racing punishment.    Sent it to  my good friend Bruce Hawkins at Hawks Third Gen parts down in Easley SC.   Bruce had his T56 expert put some great hardened parts in and added years of improved life!

Install:

John Smith and Blair, of Atlantic Automotive, installed the new motor.  Atlantic also rebuilt the complete differential.     I purchased a set of rebuilt front control arms from Bill Harper at WX3 Performance in Georgia, and Blair installed these as well.     The car is now ALIVE and QUITE WELL, with a lot of help from all these good friends and good people.   I will post more info and pictures here shortly.  -GM

Chassis Dyno:   Looking for 370 RWHP and 390 RWT based on numbers before the build

Part numbers Updated during rebuild:

14046812     Clutch Pedal thrust washer, from 4th gen f-body assy, works with Josh's Pedal

====  The original T56 Conversion in 2004  ============

BBHP kit #90 from Josh Korsower:  $1400 http://www.bigfastcar.com  (2002 price)

About the ONLY ITEM I used from this kit was the pedal assembly, which was manufactured for Josh, but Todd Cook at TEC.    On this last install, Blair at Atlantic Automotive, took some license with the pedal and changed the angle to more appropriately function with my Tilton master.   The Tilton master was longer then the f-body POS, which was part of the original design criteria Josh gave Todd.

We have come a long way since then, but this pedal is still the nicest one out there.  My opinion.  Josh and Cricket have unfortunately gone on to other things...
